Days Gone By

I find old film like this utterly fascinating. As many of us are not so far removed from our elder sunset years any more, I wonder how our brief life summaries on camera might look to people a century from now, as these from 1929 look to us here in the present. Of course so on and so on as the centu...

You didn't die alone today

My wife came across this on Facebook, in the Knoxville Crime Watch of all places. As lifetime dog lovers and owners it made us both cry. I thought this would be the most appropriate forum to share it, powerful stuff. Katie Nicole Flowers February 27 at 11:00 AM You didn’t die alone today. I don’t kn...

Re: This week in review

You know I regularly contemplate what horrible practices used to be commonly acceptable (of course the examples are numerous), which today are seen as reprehensible to "modern" sensibilities, and then I scan our current practices for what may in future times be greatly frowned upon; quite ...

Re: The Doors: the story of Strange Days and the madness of Jim Morrison

One thing I find interesting about the story of The Doors is that Jim would have been nothing without his bandmates, and they would have been nothing without Jim. Another is I think there is a lesson here in that our inner wild child (like our friend fire) can indeed be constructive in it's destruct...

Re: Why is everything going downhill

The concepts of death and rebirth going together are not an issue . Living out of balance is . Not asking why a butterfly lives only two weeks. But I am wondering why do humans live around 80 years of a distorted fucked up kind of life. Not the egotistical quest for immortality that I am after. But...

Re: Why is everything going downhill

I like to answer good questions with further questioning: Would this be akin to asking our councils of trees in the forest, or our forbearers for example, why they don't/didn't "live" forever?

Re: Max Igan : "Why Has The Great Empire Of Tartary Been Written Out Of History?" Must Listen!

Well, to me anyway Max is doing a couple of different things here: on the one hand, and generally speaking, he is saying that beyond living history we can't believe a word about things we read or hear about history; but on the other hand he states as uncategorically true things like the Romans didn'...

Re: Max Igan : "Why Has The Great Empire Of Tartary Been Written Out Of History?" Must Listen!

Ole Max is a smart fellow, always interesting, and always asking the right questions. However, I think he tends get a little carried away at times by seeing rabbit holes that may well have perfectly logical explanations. For example: The Tartarians must have been breatharians because their structure...

Re: Catharsis

I know that ever forming grand picture you speak of Spiritwind. Every time I think I'm ready to put my finger on it and say "ah, so THAT'S what it is", I realize no, that's not quite it either. It may be that at a certain level, but it certainly is nowhere near the whole ball of wax, and e...
