Well, this year I fked up a bit by picking some too close to herbicide. However, if you can avoid that or learn safe work arounds, picking blackberries (and blueberries, if you have a surplus of those and a deficit of bears!!) is one of the toughest yet most rewarding summer pastimes available.

You need: light but tough boots, heavy enough to trample a large thorn vine and take the weight of jumping from logs/stumps/etc.

Slightly loose jeans heavy denim, need to fit close to your boot.

Belt

Sport bra and light weight thorn resist jacket or raincoat

Goggles or sunglasses

Optional hat

Non optional hooking tool for reaching vines too far away from hands withoyt getting stuck. A 90° angle vintage screwdriver or even a wire hanger works OK but you probably want iron at the minimum. Slippage = ouch

A plastic coffee jar or milk jugs with tops enlarged

Freezer bags and a waterproof or absorbent shopping bag or basket, umbrella to shade basket

Car or bicycle with trailer Or a large waterproof backpack

AVOIDING HERBICIDE:

Humans sort of suck for spraying free food with poison for profit.

P.s. don't forget water eek. Especially if you are climbing hills to reach bushes
