Cats & squirrels are both surprisingly smart.. Cats are great at improvising, getting what they want , squirrels are good at communicating with people. They even have gestures, a squirrel will lift its closed paw to its chest to request food. How is this not a form of language? Seems to me it is possible these critters were signing before humans were, but maybe that's silly?
