Michael Tsarion's master class on Tarot symbolism: Path of the Fool

Post by heyokah »

Michael Tsarion explores the symbolism of the complete 22 cards of the Major Arcana Tarot deck.

Here is a brief intro to the serie.

Michael begins with an esoteric analysis of The Fool.

The Fool 0 - is unnumbered; sometimes represented as 0 (the first) or XXII (the last) Major Arcana in decks.

Image

The Fool, he stands at a peak. That can be interpreted in many ways...the Fool figure himself descends from the ARCTIC HOMELAND - notice the white mountains in the background, and his descent. Why add those mountains and suggest a descent from a 'high place.'
We can't understand anything about our times, or about history, unless we realize what has been hidden from us.

The tarot symbolically refers to this great fall, of the sun and of mankind. A new time, a new calendar, a new zodiac, and a new mythos.
The tarot was created to commemorate what had been, and to encapsulate in pictures the new mythos.
The tarot makers didn't mean for us to "get it" intellectually. They don't work on that banal level.
The pack on his back tells us of the little that remained from the past. It was mostly lost. Modern historical man wasn't left a hell of a lot, but a tarot deck will fit in that little bag he's carrying. Hence the carefree look on his face.
it's not completely lost after all.

The High Priestess. II
Slayer of the Gods

Image

The elusive Priestess sends forth the light emanations from her empyrean into the void of space-time, that we might follow it to her pristine altar.
She is the mistress of the Sephira, the keeper of the gate through which all must come and return.
She is found when the seeking stops, heard when the speaking ceases and known when all else is abandoned.
Her chamber is the universe, her necklace the stars, her shrine the heart of the Earth.

The Empress III
The Lady we all know....

Image

The message of the Empress is that this "beauty's visible presentment" is Nature herself lying resplendently before our eyes.
She asks for us to develop again that original symbiotic, umbilical connection with her elements and subtle organic forces that give us life; to explore and experience the art of life rather than merely the mechanics.
This art we now express only through the Creative Muse, through music, poetry and art perhaps, but we have largely forgotten the origin of this rapport and what it is that we are attempting to evoke and salute.
We have transferred, sublimated and displaced our love emotion everywhere else but to the place from which it originated, and have dislocated the reciprocal relationships between self, beauty and love.
We have ceased to be virtuous, in the Socratic sense, and our virtueless existences condemn the Earth to further intolerable violations.

The risk of inner experience, the adventure of the spirit, is in any case alien to most human beings.
The possibility that such experience might have psychic reality is anathema to them."

heyokah,

Thank you for continuing to post Michael Tsarion's work, he never ceases to open my eyes or widen my vision in some manner. ( I am reposting the image that is no longer viewable on your original post.)

Adding a personal note that while unraveling myself and disentangling from a certain personage the Hierophant was very present as the representative on the archetypical level I was working on, I find depth of value in the tarot when plummeted to the esoteric of self dis-covery.
