No harm in deceiving deceivers, in tricking the tricksters. Saying no to the master, I ain't got no power, sir, all the while gathering the power necessary to secure one's freedom. It is the wiley way, and at the end of the day, they got theirs while I got away.

That's entirely up to you, Shez.

For what it's worth? One of the things that a solid philosopher is able to do is to realize when a friend is showing possible chinks in his armour, not as a means of starting shit, but as a means of helping that friend.

I wouldn't expect any less from you. I just assumed you'd be equally inclined.

My apologies.

I don't think Shezbeth believes in 'friends'. Once in awhile he does display a kind of fondness for certain adversaries.

Quite right! If you haven't heard, apparently there's a growing consensus that I'm a sociopath. Cats are sociopaths, so I suppose it would make sense.

Besides, Hermit's being even more of a shit with this whole apologia thing. I would respect him less if I were convinced he was entirely sincere and not the LEAST bit cheeky,....

And as you're well aware, I was being a shit from the outset.

It is with this very idea in mind (or a suitable equivalent) that I engage in artifice, conspiracy, and extremely long-range-pimpin' - not to mention slave-driving - in my place of business, with nary a care for the well-being of my co-workers beyond OSHA standards.

When I saw that apology,
I knew it would annoy you.

You do sound like a sociopath.
I think I ought to start up another one of those
'Take The Test to Find Out If You're A Psychopath' threads.
That's always fun.

Last time, I scored quite high... remember? ;)

Well now here's the clincher.

I was actually being sincere.

I'm being sincere about the wager as well. :D

Oh... so I take it you're not always sincere? I'll keep that in mind. ;)

I am always sincere.

I may be crass, or sarcastic, or in drag queen mode, but I always endeavour to be sincere. ;)
