The Legend of White Buffalo Calf Woman

Post by Spiritwind »

Thoughts flowing through my mind, like windows to my soul. I see two worlds before me. One world represents the world of the warrior, a dog eat dog survival of the fittest environment. Mercy means death, love shows vulnerability.

The other world represents the world of the lover, the tender of life in all it's many forms of expression, the nurturer of all that is. War means destroying what has lovingly been created in this world.

Both of these realities exist simultaneously, in constant dynamic interplay. Should we fight to survive, or should we embrace the pain of loss. To move through the pain is to see truth. The truth of what is, what has been, and what will be again, should we not recognize the cross road we are at.

I believe some of us knew this time was coming, this time of choice, where two roads come together and we must choose. Fear or faith, which will it be? We do stand at the precipice. Do we go forward, stand still, or turn around and go the other way. Which outcome is truly best in the long run? No way to tell for sure. Maybe a different response is to become all three. Move into your enemy, embrace, and then hold on while you both jump off the cliff together.

The following are some links with various renditions of the legend of the White Buffalo Calf Woman. I would like to bring these together in one place and possibly discuss the implications of the central message in all these renditions, as I feel it is very pertinent to the time we live in. Even though this message was for a smaller grouping of people in a specific location on the planet, the message itself can be applied to all times, and all peoples, anywhere on this planet we all call home for now. No one can really hide what is truly in their heart, and the question is: how much have we each grown into the highest potential expression of ourselves and what would that look like?

I see your love shining out from my furry friends faces, when I look into their eyes. I see you in the flower’s smile, the rainbow, and the wind in the trees....
