4 WAYS TO CHANGE YOUR THOUGHTS
July 12, 2017
Globally we are at this moment of diagnosis on the planet. We are standing in front of the doctor and they are telling us we are enetering the sixth mass extinction. The shock of this has the potential to have humanity dig deeper than imagined and write a completely new program, unleashing a rapid healing response across the globe.

How do we change our programs into our wishes and desires?

1. Hypnosis

This is the way we learned our programs in the first 7 years of life. During this time the mind is operating in a low vibrational frequency like hypnosis. The theta state is very receptive and we do this two time every day before falling asleep and just before waking up.

2. Repetition

Through repetition and the creation of "habits," the primary way we acquire subconscious programs after age 7. This can't just be sticky notes on the mirror. This must be felt and experienced. This can be difficult if we are experiencing great contrast to the thing we want. Remember habits are by repeating something over and over and over again. Practicing, repeating, practicing!

3. Energy Psychology (aka super learning)

New belief modification programs that engage the brain's super-learning processes, allowing programs to be changed within minutes. Resources here and at the bottom.

4. High Impact Events

An individual may rapidly rewrite programs after an overwhelming or psychologically-traumatizing life experience (e.g., being diagnozed with a terminal illness). Read more here

What's the catch and last piece of the puzzle?! Being Fully Present.

Through the above four processes, we can rewrite destructive programs that occupy our subconscious field. All of us, yes including you, can safely and easily rewrite limiting subconscious programs using one of four fundamental ways to install new subconscious behaviors.

Resources that facilitate rewriting limiting subconscious beliefs, go to https://www.brucelipton.com/other-resources

We are not victims of anything other than the programs we are operating from. Change the programs you are operating from. If your subconscious programs match the wishes and desires of the conscious mind, your life will be one continuous honeymoon experience (The Honeymoon Effect) for as long as you live on this planet.

Eldon Taylor, an expert of subliminal communication and hypnosis, inventor and the award winning, New York Times best selling author of over 300 books, and audio and video programs, including one of the most fascinating book I’ve ever read for the show, Choices and Illusions.

And that’s just what I want to talk with him about today, about how to move past our wiring, programming and self-imposed, and societal limits and how to get where we want to be.

That plus we’ll talk about the bad luck fortune cookie game, the danger of driving past video stores, krispy kreme conversations, what to do at the post office, where to hide God, ancient Chinese dialects and great wall scrolls, what in the world’s a chicken belief, and what does a philodendron and a goldfish killer, have to do with anything?

(These are IMO GREAT questions)
Key Topics: : What in the world’s a chicken belief?
How do we start to understand who we really are?
How do we become authentic?
What’s it mean to have a true authentic thought?
What are our limiting beliefs and where do they come from?
What can we learn from the great motivational speakers?
Why don’t motivational speakers succeed in helping people change?
What’s the importance of commitment? What is a serial addiction to self-help?
If we all want change, why are we so opposed to it? How did forgiveness help inmates?
How to move past the fears you’ve had since you were a child? What are the inner-conflicts we have with money?
How do we shift our programming and attitude to allow abundance to come in? How do we start to change our programming?
How do we identify which thoughts are truly ours?
How we get guiding principles or limits and what can we do about it?
How to work with our emotions and how do we employ our emotions so they can work for us, rather than against us?
How to become mindful of your thoughts?
How do we change our self-talk?
What’s the importance of changing expectation and perception?
What’s the danger of blaming others – and how does it hurt ourselves?
What’s the incredible power of forgiveness?
What’s the importance of gratitude What’s the importance of self-responsibility and why’s it so important?
What is the incredible power and importance of service Where does real self-esteem come from and how do we build ours?

As I look out into the collective mirror, what I see is an opportunity to take all kinds of information and put it together for ourselves so we build our own paradigm...call it an ideal. This ideal is so captivating as it holds what we cherish and deeply ask to experience. I know that each fractal person has differnt-ness. Each has a unique ideal and we often just cannot trace how our ideal has appeared in front of us.

I expect that this 'reality" will honor how divergently our real desires are displayed, and the artifice is to impose a collective ideal a faux desiring that ignores our inclinations. IMO everyones' is observing their own thought responsive environment. The malleability MEANS our small field of experience is OURS to shape by our thoughts and the most intimate field is the body we know we have. There is a separate reality for each of us and when one accesses the flow, one knows that they never impinge but blend as like attracts its own signature. This seems like a huge burden I think when people have not realized, shaping our world is just what we DO naturally...it is our chief feature. We can actually relax quite a bit knowing how able we are!

Taking this as a fact, I am really liking the steps that seem next... to be responsible in my everyday life. I think this is quite challenging for me so far but in such a GOOD way. How can i possibly know woowoo is of use or NOT except by serious application? Don't judge a book by its cover applies.

Tame Your Dominant Thoughts and Your Random Thoughts Will Follow Suit: It is estimated that the average person has between 12,000 and 70,000 thoughts a day. This is evidence enough to suggest that your goal should not be to control every thought. It is your dominant thoughts and beliefs that you must learn to bring under your conscious control as they are what largely determine your mental attitude. As you do, you will find your random thoughts themselves becoming more positive and more deliberate.

The following words of Siddhartha Gautama Buddha perfectly capture the essence of thought power:
"All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become."

In a nutshell, your life is the perfect mirror of your thoughts, beliefs and dominant mental attitude. Whether you realise it or not you are already creating your reality through your thought power. Every effect you see in your outside world has its original cause within you - no exceptions. To gain access to the greatest creative power at your disposal, you must learn to control the nature of your habitual thoughts and to align yourself with the One Source of All Power of which you are a part. Your thoughts create your reality - know, internalize and apply this Truth and you will see your life transform in miraculous ways.http://www.mind-your-reality.com/thought_power.html

This is a good idea of why concepts of "new age" and "new thought" should be distinguished.....
Off Topic
With its unique and remarkable blend of science and spirituality, one might expect New Thought to be at the center of the New Age, leading it to higher spirituality with its God-centered approach, along with its emphasis on putting the teachings of Jesus to practical use for health, wealth, and happiness, making use of the most powerful psychological techniques to do so. But New Thought is at risk of being swallowed up and disappearing into the rudderless wanderings of New Age. There are four reasons for this:

1. Name problems. Although nearly everyone is familiar with New Thought principles such as positive thinking, the name New Thought is virtually unknown today, and consequently New Thought is not credited as the source of these concepts. New Thought has been erroneously labeled a sect of Christian Science--when the opposite is nearer the truth--and hence, avoided or ignored. New Thought is constantly being confused with New Age, mainly because people are unfamiliar with New Thought. This is exacerbated by the fact that New Thought is a do-it-yourself religion with enormous individual differences, and people want to put their own label on their own version of it. Consequently, some prominent New Thoughters deny being part of New Thought. One well-known example is New Thought minister Della Reese, who was ordained by Unity-trained minister Johnnie Colemon and who has spoken at congresses of the International New Thought Alliance, which is an umbrella organization that since 1914 has maintained communication and information exchange among the various branches of New Thought. Yet Reese has denied being a New Thoughter in print and on television. Unity, which is New Thought, Fillmore-style, has traditionally resisted being labeled as part of New Thought. The various branches of Religious Science freely acknowledge their debt to New Thought but seek their own "brand name" recognition.

2. Anti-intellectualism. Because of its experiential nature--for in New Thought one uses the power of the mind to focus one's attention on God instead of one's problem and a solely intellectual approach will not work--New Thoughters tend to be anti-intellectual. Emmet Fox, who was an electrical engineer before going into the ministry, has made a clear distinction between studying and treating:

When you are studying--reading a metaphysical book, listening to a lecture, or thinking over the Truth that you know--you should be open-minded, wisely critical, taking nothing for granted, but weighing and considering, being as analytical as you please. . . . When you are treating, the exact opposite policy is the right one. Then you must be dogmatic, insistent, arbitrary, cocksure, and mentally closed to anything but the Truth about the problem (1942, p. 185).
But most New Thoughters ignore this distinction. The founders abandoned traditional approaches to religion and started their own schools, placing their emphasis on personal transformation rather than formal education. Although most of the New Thought founders were well read, they largely lacked college educations and consequently ignored the critical thinking of philosophy and other academic disciplines. Their ignorance, coupled with the public's lack of familiarity with New Thought, has earned even "major brand" New Thoughters the disdain of mainstream clergy. Some New Thought ministers have encountered difficulties in being accepted into chaplaincy programs. The INTA founded an Educational Standards and Accreditation Committee to address this problem, but to date very little improvement has come about. However, there appears to be a new interest in academic development among some of the current leadership in INTA.

3. Loss of the character ethic. In 1971, historian Richard M. Huber published The American Idea of Success, a review of 200 years of American success literature from Benjamin Franklin onward. He discovered the underlying New Thought principles and devoted several chapters to New Thought, of which he was severely critical because he discovered that in the past fifty years (thirty at the time he wrote), something has been missing from success literature that was there before, especially in the writings of Benjamin Franklin. That something is the character ethic, which, Huber found, has been replaced by the personality ethic, involving the psychology of making oneself pleasing to others. Character, on the other hand, involves qualities such as integrity, fairness, loyalty, honesty, perseverance, and service to others. Huber's point is valid, not just for success literature but in our society, in which public schools are forbidden to teach such character builders as the Ten Commandments, children are taught to esteem themselves complacently even when they are behaving irresponsibly and incompetently, and the discipline of spirituality is never discussed. But Huber offers no remedy.

The New Thought founders all postulated good character. They took it for granted. The personality ethic, which business consultant Stephen Covey describes as "quick-fix influence techniques, power strategies, communication skills, and positive attitudes" (1989, p. 19), oils the wheels of social interaction and is indeed important, but it must rest on a foundation of good character. Happily, a second scholar followed in Huber's footsteps, and offered a remedy for the loss of the character ethic: put it back. This second scholar was Covey, whose book based largely on New Thought principles, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, continues to be a bestseller, and has proven to have a positive effect on the bottom line of numerous businesses that have begun to operate according to the principles Covey outlines. Covey, who lists Huber's book in the bibliography of his doctoral dissertation (p. 139), emphasizes personal responsibility for one's life in Habit One (Be proactive), the importance of vision in Habit Two (Begin with the end in mind), walking one's talk in Habit Three (Put first things first) and the importance of balance in Habit Seven (Sharpen the saw), along with belief in an abundant universe that allows one to be generous to others without depriving oneself in Habits Four, Five, and Six (Think win-win, Seek first to understand, then to be understood, and Synergize). Once again, the name New Thought is never mentioned, although Covey, a Mormon, does acknowledge that he personally believes that the source of the principles on which the Seven Habits are based is God.

Huber's criticism--implicitly of New Thought--is valid. When people try to have "the fruits without the roots," as Covey puts it, fail to do the necessary mental work to change their minds and keep them changed, fail to follow through with actions in their daily lives, in short, fail to walk their talk, New Thought or anything else becomes shallow and effete. The practice of the presence of God for practical purposes is indeed simple, but it is anything but easy. Too many people are looking for quick fixes, instant solutions, instead of making the necessary changes in their lives. Even a seemingly miraculous instantaneous healing does not last without a concomitant change in consciousness. Jesus warned the former paralytic he healed at Bethesda, "Sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee" (John 5:14).

4. Unrealistic worldview. Owing largely to the influence of Eddy, much of New Thought is pantheistic, holding that "God is all there is," "There is only one mind," "There is nothing but God," etc. This is not the case with the strain that goes back directly to Quimby, but its position is somewhat unclear. New Thought badly needs clarity in its underlying metaphysics, which brings us to the heart of the problem. The power of New Thought comes in a more or less altered state, a frequently self-induced light trance. Quimby may have formally abandoned mesmerism, but the basic principles of hypnosis established by psychiatrist Milton Erickson and others have demonstrated the efficacy of what Erickson referred to as an "everyday trance" state of response attentiveness" (Erickson et al., 1976, p. 303) for facilitating healing and learning of all sorts. Light hypnosis is natural to us all, as we get lost in a book, succumb to highway hypnosis, or fall under the spell of an interesting speaker. Great communicators invariably use some hypnotic techniques, whether or not they know they are using them. To concentrate one's thoughts fully on God, shutting out the rest of the world, is to create an excellent and useful light trance. This horrifies some people: I remember encountering a woman at a seminar I was leading who was indignant at the idea of using relaxation leading to light trance in church as part of a meditation. That just didn't fit into her idea of religion! Yet one frequently sees entire congregations in light trance, swaying to the sound of a familiar hymn. For this reason, Erickson frequently avoided using the term hypnosis or indicating to patients that they may have been in trance. The conscious mind gets in the way much of the time and delays healing.

But all too many New Thoughters confuse the psychology of the altered state with their worldview. In their altered state, they may well experience "nothing but God." Psychiatrist William Glasser (1981) and physicist William Powers in their psychocybernetic model of the mind indicate that the highest order of perception (perceptual filter) is universal oneness. Mystics and others in altered states frequently report a sense of oneness with all that is, a universal interconnectedness. This makes for great psychology, but "we are all one" is lousy metaphysics unless it has extensive reinterpretation to explain that the one is made up of many, or better still, that as Whitehead put it, "the many become one, and are increased by one" (1929, p. 32, 1978, p. 21).

Field theorist Ken Wilber, in Eye to Eye (1990) explains that people have at least three modes of knowing--the mystics called them the three eyes: the eye of flesh, or empirical knowing, the eye of reason, and the eye of contemplation. Similar notions are held in numerous disciplines. Scientists use primarily the eye of flesh, philosophers the eye of reason, and mystics and other spiritual figures the eye of contemplation. The eye of contemplation is higher because it sees farther, and the eye of reason's job is to mediate between the input from the other two eyes. All three eyes are important and necessary, and difficulties arise when one eye attempts to usurp the function of another. As Wilber puts it, "Anytime one eye tries to see for another eye, blurred vision results" (1990, p. 10). For example, this has happened in modernity as science, using the eye of flesh, has usurped the function of the eye of contemplation, leaving us with what Wilber calls flatland (scientific materialism).

Philosophy, using the eye of reason, must reconcile the "nothing but God" of the mystical vision with the discoveries of contemporary science and Griffin's "hard-core commonsense" view that we have some degree of freedom (1997, p. 103). From the findings of the Gestalt psychologists at the turn of the century we know that we cannot believe our eyes and ears, let alone our mystical visions. At the same time, there is much more to the world than what scientists can measure. Enter Whitehead and the system of metaphysics known as process thought. It is not necessary to resort to the pantheism of the so-called perennial philosophy to explain the mystical vision, even for New Thought. Its treatment, consisting of dwelling on God, turning one's attention toward what is desired and away from what isn't, works even better on a foundation of panentheism. And the substance metaphors that New Thoughters use as part of their legacy of Newtonian physics can turn into broken myths or be replaced by new process images. Instead of molding divine substance, we can build up the pattern of the past by saying yes to God, moment by moment. I like to illustrate this with the image of a net full of colored balls for children to play in, such as you see at fast food places. Imagine yourself standing in front of a huge pile of such multicolored balls. If you want to be standing in front of a red background, you consistently select red balls and toss them one at a time over your shoulder. If you persist, you will eventually have your red background. In this way, we build up the pattern of the past with our momentary choices. It is worth noting that our unconscious minds are part of the past, and can be similarly modified, thought by thought, moment by moment.

New Thought needs to shore up its metaphysical underpinnings in such a way that its ministers can converse as peers with ministers from other disciplines. Despite its creedal freedom, it needs a centrist position that can reconcile science and religion, theism and pantheism. Emmet Fox once observed that when you come to church, you shouldn't check your common sense with your hat at the door. Too many New Thoughters still abandon common sense in their metaphysical musings.

And so New Thought needs process thought. With its added impetus, the New Thought message can continue to revitalize traditional churches as to some extent it already has--for example, the Emmanuel movement begun in the Episcopal church in 1906 was squarely modeled on New Thought healing practices. New Thought, following Quimby, recovers much of the freshness and power of primitive Christianity that has been lost by the traditional church, by incorporating the powerful psychological principles that Jesus taught along with his basic message of love and trust in God. As Quimby put it, "What truth did Jesus come to bring to the world? One simple fact that man is a progressive being, that his happiness and misery are of his own make" (Dresser, 1961, p. 338). Until Quimby came along, miraculous healings in the church were few and far between, scarcely ever expected, and the sacrament of unction for the sick had become reserved for the dying.

New Thoughters already believe that the universe is God's body and that all creation is cocreation. They teach that we create our own world with our thoughts. Now they can learn that we are doing it moment by moment in the great creative advance into novelty.

I will let Quimby have the last word. He wrote, "These ideas are in your mind like little leaven. They will work till the whole mind is changed" (Clark, 1982, p. 114).http://neweverymoment.com/deb/New%20Age ... hought.htm

The sense of empowerment in being oneself and in loving oneself is grand and fuels our original genius.
This may be preceded by through an unraveling in a HELLish dark place:
"the dark night of the soul".

Eckhart tolle describes it as
Off Topic
a term used to describe what one could call a collapse of a perceived meaning in life…an eruption into your life of a deep sense of meaninglessness. The inner state in some cases is very close to what is conventionally called depression. Nothing makes sense anymore, there’s no purpose to anything. Sometimes it’s triggered by some external event, some disaster perhaps, on an external level. The death of someone close to you could trigger it, especially premature death, for example if your child dies. Or you had built up your life, and given it meaning – and the meaning that you had given your life, your activities, your achievements, where you are going, what is considered important, and the meaning that you had given your life for some reason collapses.

It can happen if something happens that you can’t explain away anymore, some disaster which seems to invalidate the meaning that your life had before. Really what has collapsed then is the whole conceptual framework for your life, the meaning that your mind had given it. So that results in a dark place. But people have gone into that, and then there is the possibility that you emerge out of that into a transformed state of consciousness. Life has meaning again, but it’s no longer a conceptual meaning that you can necessarily explain. Quite often it’s from there that people awaken out of their conceptual sense of reality, which has collapsed.

They awaken into something deeper, which is no longer based on concepts in your mind. A deeper sense of purpose or connectedness with a greater life that is not dependent on explanations or anything conceptual any longer. It’s a kind of re-birth. The dark night of the soul is a kind of death that you die. What dies is the egoic sense of self. Of course, death is always painful, but nothing real has actually died there – only an illusory identity. Now it is probably the case that some people who’ve gone through this transformation realized that they had to go through that, in order to bring about a spiritual awakening. Often it is part of the awakening process, the death of the old self and the birth of the true self.

The first lesson in A Course in Miracles says “Nothing I see in this room means anything”, and you’re supposed to look around the room at whatever you happen to be looking at, and you say “this doesn’t mean anything”, “that doesn’t mean anything”. What is the purpose of a lesson like that? It’s a little bit like re-creating what can happen during the dark night of the soul. It’s the collapse of a mind-made meaning, conceptual meaning, of life… believing that you understand “what it’s all about”. With A Course in Miracles, it’s a voluntary relinquishment of the human mind-made meaning that is projected, and you go voluntary into saying “I don’t know what this means”, “this doesn’t mean anything”. You wipe the board clean. In the dark night of the soul it collapses.

You are meant to arrive at a place of conceptual meaninglessness. Or one could say a state of ignorance – where things lose the meaning that you had given them, which was all conditioned and cultural and so on. Then you can look upon the world without imposing a mind-made framework of meaning. It looks of course as if you no longer understand anything. That’s why it’s so scary when it happens to you, instead of you actually consciously embracing it. It can bring about the dark night of the soul – to go around the Universe without any longer interpreting it compulsively, as an innocent presence. You look upon events, people, and so on with a deep sense of aliveness. Your sense the aliveness through your own sense of aliveness, but you are not trying to fit your experience into a conceptual framework anymore.https://www.eckharttolle.com/newsletter/october-2011

After going through the dark night of the soul, you maybe wondering, why, what will happen to me, what will I become, and what is the point of going through so much pain.
There are many benefits to this transformation. Healing of course is the big one. Can you imagine if you could heal some one just by a touch. Is it possible could you do a miracle. I did! You realise that the word human being has been so limiting in your journey of life. As you awaken to the endless possibilities of what you are seeing, feeling and doing in your life can be completely different, just like that of the butterfly. The biggest trick with the humans is they believe that they can never change who they are, this is where they are wrong. You are here to transform yourself from the slavery of life that has had you trapped and blinded by bull shit. You will start to understand that your life has been a waste of time really compared to what you are about to become. This is where manifesting becomes normal, healing becomes natural and you become a nicer person to yourself. This is the art of self love, loving who you are is not the love you thought you knew, because this love comes from a place of naturalness and beauty. Do you remember the story of the kingdom of heaven is within you, well this is it. The kingdom is within you, you are that kingdom, a place where all is well. You will begin to understand that the very thoughts that were killing you off, are now teaching you the way to be. Your thoughts and intuition becomes your greatest adviser and teacher. The reason being is because your soul has taken over and your soul knows a new language of the universe.

Hi Maggie, I want to take the time to thank you for this wonderful thread. I'm not much into listening to videos, but your writings and excerpts either bring me into something new or are very synchronistic in nature.

I often read without logging in... So thank you.

That makes my day!

I choose to "know about the bad (the manipulative, the undermining, the blocking, the sad state of affairs) but LIVE in the good. The good for me is so very real as a principle. I can sense it as a tangible energy. the good leaves me feeling full and nourished, relaxed, alert, loving and kind and compassionate.

The only thing good about consensus reality is that it is an illusion that is programmed by mind and emotion and acted out bodily. If taken as a true permanent condition, the collective depresson sets in. THE GOOD is always present as a stand alone state and I am the one who gets in and out of its reality.

We can know how it is imprinted but WE have to FORGET our MEMORY. To ME this knowing its all illusion and can be rewritten is Good. How awesome that the very same tools using our psychic structure against us is just as able to be FOR us. I like Frederick Dodson. I have listened to some of his videos. He wrote this and it reinforces to me that

In my 30 years as a self-improvement coach, the most important insight is that where you put your attention is where your energy goes. If you find that hard to believe, try this: Walk through a crowd. Put your attention on the people. Then walk through the same crowd again and put your attention on the gaps between the people. More of them will now make way. Try it. It never fails. Here's another experiment: Stand at the corner of any city street and look upwards for a while. You will notice people around you also look upwards. They want to know what you are looking at, and for that brief period you determined the direction of their attention.

If I tell a group of people to think of a red car, there is a great likelihood that all of them will do it. And if I tell them not to think of a red car... they will also think of a red car! They could have chosen to think of a blue mountain instead. From that you realise how easy it is to steer mass attention.

Rarely will anyone form their own thought or choose different than what they are told. In fact, if you do not make decisions and intentions, someone else will do it for you. You know this from your own life: If your spouse asks you where you want to go for dinner and you don't really have any specific preference, then they will decide where to go. The same applies on a mass-scale.

Due to a general weakness of will and awareness, most people have their reality decided for them, with merely the illusion of choice given - such as being able to choose whether you will pay your taxes by credit card or bank wire.

In school, children do not learn how to think but what to think. They do not learn how to steer attention but instead various things they are supposed to steer attention to.

It is humbling to realise that most people on the planet do not practice focusing, guiding, re-directing, shifting, retrieving and un-sticking their own attention. Thus the life-experience of most of us is determined by external agendas as given by mass media, schools, our parents and countless other sources that have very little to do with our innermost heart's truth.

We are lucky that at least some of the direction we get from outside is benign. We are lucky if we have parents who say, "You are highly talented, intelligent and beautiful," thus directing our attention in the right direction. Have you ever heard a newscaster tell you, "You are safe, talented, intelligent, beautiful, empowered and able"? Not hardly. You'll hear you are the victim of horrible circumstances that you can do nothing about.

Through directing attention, you become a mini-reality-creator. But the mass media is the grand sorcerer of reality manipulation as it directs the attention of millions. It's not generally understood to what bizarre extent the news media actively participate in the creation of our reality. It is thought they only "report" what is "happening," but that's not the case.

The following are different levels of mass-reality-creation by the news media, sorted by the degree of manipulation:

Level 1: Filtering

When I create a movie for my work, I usually choose an outdoor location. I make sure to set up the camera in nature so the scenery looks really good. By choosing what to point the camera at, I am excluding everything I don't want viewers to see, anything that does not fit my agenda.

I recently filmed breathtaking natural scenery... or at least that's what it looked like in the final result. I excluded an adjacent parking place, trashcans, roaming dogs, public signs, ugly houses and anything else that disturbed the illusion of me being in paradise. Any filmmaker understands to which extent the filmmaker distorts reality.

From the millions of events that happen every day, the reporter filters which ones to report. This is a normal process. I do it for my own website by presenting only information relevant to its overall topic. People do it on Facebook by presenting themselves in a certain way and excluding pictures that might put them in a bad light.

News media, however, tend to apply several filters. The first one is the filter of negative bias. Why? Because at Earth's current level of consciousness, fear, drama and hatred still capture more interest than peace, prosperity and harmony. Desperate to sell ad slots on their news program and their declining newspapers, most reports are filtered by how much upheaval and action they contain. In addition, televised news media follows the creed, "if there is no footage (video), it doesn't matter." When I was younger I worked for a well-known news station where I was told exactly that. I tried to get the editor to cover important angles of a story, but if there was no footage of it, it was as if it didn't exist.

If they were to portray life on a day on Earth accurately, as it is for most people most of the time, it might appear "boring." So the camera zooms in on places of the most mayhem and tragedy. This extreme filtering gives the audience the false impression that the whole world is mostly in a state of chaos, coupled with the implication there is absolutely nothing you can personally do about it. The sensationalist journalist never adds words of advice on improving your life, moving to peaceful surroundings or words of encouragement. He only cares about the sheer terror of explosions, debris, blood and destruction. If any of your relatives talked like a news anchor, you'd consider them mentally unstable.

A recent movie The Nightcrawler (starring Jake Gyllenhaal) exposes the juvenile and sadistic mindset of some sections of modern "journalism." No doubt, the last decade has seen a rise in terrorist attacks all over the world. And while these are horrific, they are still actually just localised events, pinpointed at certain buildings with a limited amount of people. They are not nearly as bad as the nation-to-nation all-out-wars we've had in decades before that.

I happened to be in the city of Munich on the day of a terrorist attack at the end of July 2016. The shooting of 9 people at the hands of a 19-year-old kid named Ali went around the world. And yet, I learned it from the news, not from being in Munich at the time. On that day I was riding my bike along the river and went for a swim. I received numerous text messages asking whether I'm still alive and sending blessings to me and my family. You see my point.... things are bad, but rarely as bad as the news says they are.

On an odd note: The same journalist who happened to be at the Nice (France) terror attack only a week before, shooting live footage of it, also "coincidentally" happened to be pre-positioned at Munich on location and filming. His name is Richard Gutjahr and he is either magnetically attracted to such events for the sake of "terrortainment" or there is something more sinister going on.

When, if I may ask, is the last time you saw windsurfers in the Palestinian Gaza Territory or a happy family having a barbecue in their Jerusalem garden in the news? These events happen every day, by the hundreds, but they do not automatically come to your mind when I say "Gaza!" or "Israel!" I have been to both Palestine and Israel on numerous visits, both privately and for business, and I've always had a great time. Yet when I tell people I am travelling there, they tell me "be careful! That's dangerous!" They associate these places with the blood and gore the news showed them. They know virtually nothing about the realities of these places than what they have been shown.

I mean no disrespect to the suffering of people in the Middle East or anywhere else for that matter. I am merely using these extreme examples to make the point of filtered-realities. They cause a lack of balance in our perception of the world as well as desensitising us toward violence.

Ideally, news media would have to not only show a nice segment at the end of their show, but more positive and interesting segments throughout. Then we learn that the world is a balance of light and darkness. Where are the news reports of hope, inspiration, everyday-heroes and human accomplishment? They are far and few between. If a proper balance of dark and light were given, the audience would become more involved in the healing of darkness rather than apathetic to it.

Level 2: Distortion

The next level of reality-manipulation is deliberate distortion by the journalists themselves because they wish to see something in a certain manner or are partial to some political, religious or philosophical ideology.

Of course, nobody is completely neutral and unbiased, nor is that expected. But one of the problems of our times is there is virtually no mass media outlet that is not widely known as being affiliated with some political, governmental, anti-governmental or philosophical "side" and a far shot from "neutral." Latest statistics from my country (USA) show that the Top Ten most successful "news" outlets on the Internet are either "right-wing" or "left-wing" affiliated. The fact that we are able to determine whether an outlet is "left" or "right" is in itself problematic. It is disheartening how almost every story "top news outlets" carry is filtered through political bias. In other words, these are not "news" outlets and their employees are not "journalists," they are unabashed propaganda outlets for one of the two political parties in the US.

Another form of distortion occurs when a journalist makes something better or worse than it is. He knows the editor will only accept a story if its interesting enough so he adds a few details here and there, knowing nobody will likely ever examine them more closely. From writing my own blog to a fairly large audience, I am somewhat familiar with the problem, but have always resisted the urge to exaggerate reports. I'd rather have some of my reports be understated ("boring") than to report things that did not happen. Needless to say, I am not only blaming the mass media, as they only reflect the desires of the populace, who favour entertainment and excitement over reason and truth. When that audience goes to the cinema, they rarely pay to see peace, love and harmony, they usually pay to see death and suffering.

Another form of distortion is that most news stories are reported without wrapping them into a wider context. Most things that happen are part of a greater pattern, part of a history, part of a mindset. Yet, the way stories are reported is as separate pieces that have little or no relation to each other.

When I report on my blog, I frequently like to put what I wrote into context and comparison with other things I wrote in order to give a congruent overall big-picture. This is not the case in conventional news media where people think that the presidential elections in the US, the hurricane that happened just before, the resignation of the CIA-boss and the resurgent Israel-Palestine conflict (all having happened within a few weeks a couple of years ago) have nothing whatsoever to do with each other and are separate bits of information. But they are interconnected, not only metaphysically but geopolitically. Because the news reports too much and journalists write too quickly, ignoring context and connections, they breed ignorance of the depth and meaning of things.

Level 3: Deliberate Fabrication

This is the most intense form of reality-manipulation which hopefully does not occur too often. I recently spoke to someone who used to work for the British "Ministry of Defense." He shared the following story: Some decades ago a group of reporters went to Northern Ireland to capture footage of the conflict. When they arrived everything was peaceful, so they went ahead and created some chaos, just so they could return home with footage. They bribed a local to make and throw molotov cocktails (amateur bombs) off rooftops into the streets, setting cars and trashcans ablaze. In this instance, the journalists literally created the news. They refused to go home saying "the streets of Belfast are peaceful at this time." The guy who told me the story lamented that this scandal of sorts was never revealed or reported on to this day. It was covered up by the BBC to avoid embarrassment.

For a mature human being it is important to at least be aware of how news media manipulates reality. Mere awareness immunises you. You can then read and watch the news without being dragged down to victim-mentality or desensitised apathy, and if you are interested in a story you can then read different news outlets to view the different viewpoints and versions of it and gain a birds-eye-view.

It's better not to rely on only one news outlet. In my view, most of these stories are just the world-mind processing garbage, like in some kind of bad dream. None of it needs to have anything to do with you, your reality and the reality of those around you. You experience only what you attract through the contents of your own consciousness and subsequent decisions. In some cases you will have a friend or relative who gets way too caught up in news media, exaggerating the importance of various events.

Back in the 80s some believed AIDS would completely wipe out the entire planet by the year 2000. It didn't happen. Then they thought "Swine-Flu" would "wipe out civilisation as we know it": It didn't happen. Then they thought 2012 would enlighten humanity to a golden era of peace and bliss. Didn't happen. And they thought 9/11 would mark the beginning of World War III. Didn't happen. I dare say that for most of us, life went on like it did the 10 years before and progressed or regressed in accordance with our personal level of consciousness.

Those who take the news way too seriously very rarely do anything actively to help the situation. They'd prefer being worried and indignant to taking positive action. For them, daily preoccupation with the news is like an escape from their own lives which may lack movement or excitement. But when the time comes that their own lives pick up, their interest in daily news recedes. This means they have chosen to focus their precious attention to places that really matter in the development of their own spirit.

Attention is the currency of the 21st century and I recommend you use yours wisely. Be conscious of what you give your eyes to see, your ears to hear, your mind to think and your heart to feel.

Re: Truth and understanding is forever the lovely, the good and the expanding

In 1888, the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn formed and introduced much of what is known as "modern magic". This is one manifestation of changes in collective human consciousness. Forces of unconsciousness opposed by forces of liberating consciousness are in play. As Stephen Hoeller says: " Among these forces we laboriously wind our way to the summit of salvific Gnosis."

For those who can listen, this video IMO is pertinent to the OP... that in this play, we are meant to learn about how to bring into manifestation our contact with Divinity for the purpose of creation of a life.

Gnosticism:

"I think we could describe it as a very early form of Christianity, very different in many respects from what Christianity became later on. It is much more individualistic. It is much more orientated toward the personal, spiritual advancement and transformation of the individual, regarding figures such as Jesus as being helpers rather than sacrificial saviors. It is a form of religion that has a much more ecumenical and universal scope in terms of its relationship to spiritual, religious traditions other than the Christian.[6]

I would say that this appears to be, as far as Gnosticism is concerned, the time that the Greeks called the kairos, the time when the Gods are reborn. We live in an age, I think, when certain timeless ideas, which have been submerged and subdued for a long time, are making their appearance once again. In that respect we're living in very interesting times as the Chinese would say. Interesting times, spiritually powerful times, always cast a great shadow. There will also be great difficulties, but I think that Gnostic traditions, along with a number of kindred ideas, are being reborn at this time, and will have a significant influence in the future. Those of us who find ourselves working within that field are singularly blessed that we can do this work at this particular time. So I feel I'm at the right place and at the right time and I am profoundly grateful for all of that."- Stephan A Hoeller

The Rebirth of Gnosticism: An Interview with Dr. Stephan A. Hoeller
.......................................
RS: There seem also to be many forces that are working against human evolution and advancement. Could you comment a little on these? Do they have any relation to, say, the Gnostic concepts of the Demiurge and the archons?
SH: The presence of forces that oppose human spiritual freedom was widely recognised by Gnostic teachers. Such forces are frequently personified as the archons, headed by the Demiurge of this world. Mythically, these beings are represented as entities who have been alienated from the ultimate divine source of the All, and who regard themselves as the proper overlords of creation and of humanity. A descriptive mythologem would be to see them as slave masters who wish to keep human souls in bondage, and who therefore try to prevent the liberation of human souls by Gnosis.
It may be useful to mention that this view is not in the nature of a Gnostic demonology. The archons and the Demiurge are not so much evil as they are of limited consciousness; they do not recognise a reality superior to their own. (Gnostics stated that it was the Demiurge who exclaimed: “I am the only God and there are no other Gods beside me!”) These beings have fabricated a flawed creation and are determined to keep human souls confined therein.
Fortunately, the domain of these beings is not universal. Mingled with the dark features of demiurgic creation, we find elements coming from the original Godhead, elements which have remained relatively free from corruption. Therefore, the manifest creation contains both light and dark. We walk on the checkerboard of the cosmos, which has been called the “tasselated pavement” in certain initiatory orders.
As for myself, I believe neither in a great white brotherhood of benevolent adepts nor in a menacing assembly of evil black magicians, but rather in forces of unconsciousness opposed by forces of liberating consciousness. All of these may be personified or not. Among these forces we laboriously wind our way to the summit of salvific Gnosis.http://www.newdawnmagazine.com/articles ... -a-hoeller
