The Magic of the Child that never ends

The Magic of the Child that never ends

Post by Christine »

A friend on Facebook who writes so beautifully, again I share the words of Philippe Defossez.

"It has become quite clear, over the years of sailing through the waves of life, that our deepest longing is no longing at all. That in spite of all externally imposed expectations and culturally enforced ambitions, our only 'purpose' is to keep the flame of childhood alive, and that 'growing up' actually manifests in remembrance of our birthright of noncompliance. To simply be, in purest and timeless presence, keeping the invitation for love, joy and divine celebration wide open, prepared to being found just as much as playfully exploring. There is only rebirth on the way."

We're all physically attached, of course, to parental care (much longer than compared to most of our fellow mammals for that matter), and mentally, to some degree. For those reasons much, if not all evolutionary 'idling' finds itself caused by an over-emotional bond and dependency, all too often perpetuated and projected during much, if not all of our later lives. This was more or less described recently as : 'Identification with disappointment, indignation and resentment, often ignited and reinforced by subconscious personal experiences, seems to be one of the main issues keeping humanity from a larger scale and vital evolutionary leap ; a collective mental eclipse of the heart, triggered by a culturally inherited cycle of emotional immaturity'."

Much more eloquently painted, and perhaps rather resonating with your request, is Kahlil Gibran's beautiful poem on the subject :

'Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth. The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.

Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,so He loves also the bow that is stable.'

We go sailing down the calming streams
Drifting endlessly by the bridge
To be over
We will see
To be over

Do not suffer through the game of chance that plays
Always doors to lock away your dreams
Think it over
Time will heal your fear
Think it over
Balance the thoughts that release within you

Childlike soul dreamer one journey
One to seek and see in ev'ry light do open
True pathways away

Carrying closer go gently
Holding doors will open everyway
You wander true pathways away

After all your soul will still surrender
After all don't doubt your part
Be ready to be loved'

The journey, the challenge is to step into the
projection room and stop being lost in the script.
