Being the Best at the Worst Things

The professional world is dictated largely by intelligence, resilience, skill, and knowledge of one's trade. People talk about whistleblowers and ethics, accountability and fairness, but those are things that exist separately and in spite of much of the business world.
The truth is that big business hates interruptions, especially ethical interruptions. It is the responsibility of persons gifted with an excess of morality and a dearth of material comforts to demonstrate to these overly business obsessed individuals, the value of our humanity, and not merely the depth of our pockets. It is our job to educate and outlast them.
Even if we don't necessarily agree with the Women’s March on DC, the statements of the media, we can admire the boldness of Greenpeace, etc, and other groups with similarly rational and concrete objectives.
And who would have dreamed that Greenpeace = sanity and the White House = upside down and backwards?? Even hanging from cranes they make more sense than this week's decisions.
It truly feels like Rome is being sacked by Greece, the Trojan Horse all over again. Can this president resist the wont of his own greed and intolerance, and turn that hunger for change into a sincere desire to help all people?
Will we settle for a leader who aims to become the best at the worst things, or will we insist that he listen to his voters, to the American people in general, to history's triumphs and grievous mistakes?
Can we trust this man, or will he bring the country down around our ears like the house of Atreus? Will he, like a blind Samson, bring the roof down on our heads after killing the lion of hope and eating the honey from its corpse?
...I voted for this guy and am every bit as anxious, perhaps not scared or angry, but as anxious as the next person.
