I don’t dance to their tune....

Post by Spiritwind »

Sometimes I write just to make myself feel better. Strangely, writing the following this morning has done that, even though it’s not exactly an uplifting bit of prose. Might as well share it here, just so I can remember I wrote it, since it’s been mostly a forum of one lately. Strange strange times we live in.....

Careening down the runway of life
I keep wondering what to do
For everywhere I look
There’s nothing but hype and strife

Sometimes it hurts
Sometimes I want to fight
Sometimes it feels
I’ve been stuck with a knife

Wish it wasn’t so lonely
Though people are all around
But with their faces all covered with masks
I can barely hear a sound

It is only in the Dreamtime
Where I can be myself
I don’t have to hide
Like an elf on a Christmas shelf

But I won’t be lining up
With all my fellow man
As they extend their arms
For the jab from the man

I’d rather take the permanent trip
To dreamland where I can
Ride on the wind
And play in the sand

So I’ll don my warriors garb
And get ready for the fight
To defend my right to liberty
And my right to live my life

I’ll live it as I see fit
And I’ll die on my own terms too
It’s not theirs for the taking
I don’t dance to their tune
I see your love shining out from my furry friends faces, when I look into their eyes. I see you in the flower’s smile, the rainbow, and the wind in the trees....
