But as the artist reveals, \u201cIt so happens that I\u2019m a lazy animator.\u201d So he instead relied on complex mathematical fractal patterns to automatically generate the alien worlds and cities visited in his film.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve seen Horsthuis\u2019 use of fractals in CG animation before, but in the aptly-named, <em>Fraktaal<\/em>, it\u2019s easy to forget you\u2019re actually watching the results of mathematical algorithms spitting out random data.
